The Internet Search Problem
The question of “How to Search the Internet” may seem simple to some people, but finding unique and useful content is proving more and more difficult to even seasoned websurfers. Because of the influx of capital into internet advertising, many faux webpages and recursive pseudo-directories have been created, designed to gear search results away from the interests of the user and towards the purchase of an unrelated product, or even worse, to simply maintain an advertising profit from every click. These uninformative and useless websites have proliferated in recent years due to the standardization of “page rank” algorithms that can be identified and abused, but there is still hope for the internet because many search engines and web directories, like Google and Webndex
, are actively and successfully combatting these opportunists by evolving their operating standards and practices to obsolete rogue contentless websites and provide a more positive and spam-free searching experience.
How to Search The Web
There is no efficient way to directly search the contents of the internet. So, we must use search engines or web directories to search the internet based on keywords or topic areas. Search engines, such as Google or Yahoo, are constantly perusing the depths of the world wide web for new sites to add to their search results. When a user wants to search the internet, the words they type are filtered for boolean and other phrases and characters, and then the other terms are sent through a database of search results. While they often see a series of relevent results, this depends on how specific the terms are as well as how appropriate the other shortcuts and symbols are that help clarify the search.
Boolean Operators and Other Shortcuts
Most search engines and webdirectories accept standard boolean operators to greater refine a search. The most basic AND operator is used to find results that contain all the words listed. For example, the search Tea AND Farming would return results that contained both the term Tea and the term Farming. Using the AND operator has become largely unneccesary however, because simply listing terms seperated by the space bar has the same function. This provides a problem when searching for specific phrases. A search engine will break down the phrase into each word and search for them individually using the AND operator unless you use quotation marks to preserve a certain series of words like “Tea and Farming” or “How to Search the Internet”. Another useful shortcut is the OR operator. You can search for Tea OR Coffee and any results with either Tea or Coffee in them would be shown. If you wanted to find articles about tea or coffee, but exclude articles that are about both tea and coffee, you could use the XOR shortcut like this: Tea XOR Coffee. If you just wanted to exclude a single term you can use the NOT operator before it or you could more simply use a minus sign (-). An example of the NOT operator would be if you wanted to search for Tea but didn’t want any results about caffeine. You could write Tea NOT Caffeine or Tea -Caffeine and get the same results. Lastly, if you want to combine these operators in a complex search, you have to use brackets to group your search like this: (Tea NOT Caffeine) XOR Coffee.

Exercising is an essential aspect for our health. Sometimes getting out to the gym might conflict with our busy life styles. Today I stumbled across an interesting site. This site is completely devoted to the very popular Bowflex in home gym. Bowflex offers dumbbells, tread climbers, and are most famous for there revolutionary all-in-one work out equipment. The site itself has a comfortable feel. They offer some informative articles describing the different ways you can use this system. Also, there’s a forum where you can discuss the equipment. What’s interesting is rather than aggressively trying to force you into purchasing something; this site brings to you all the current Ebay auctions devoted to Bowflex. This is an interesting way to present price range and other Bowflex options. After exploring this site a bit you might decide that the Bowflex Home Gym is the right choice for yourself.

We’ve noticed that not everyone visiting WebndEx is from the United States. For this, we have utilized Google’s translation services to interpret WebndEx into 9 different languages. You can check this out on the Home Page, under the right column labeled - “Translate WebndEx”. In this column, a country flag represents each available language. When you click on the any of the flags, WebndEx will translate to that language.
This is still only the beginning. We are constantly working on and improving the quality of WebndEx. Stay tuned for further updates.

The Release of PlayStation 3
http://www.webndex.com/blog
Sony’s PlayStation 3, or PS3, is highly anticipated despite an ever changing release date. The most current expectation for the latest and greatest gaming system by Sony is November of 2006, arriving just in time for the holiday season. This coincides nicely with the release of Sony’s other anticipated project, the handheld e-book reader whose release date was also recently modified. This will be a very merry Christmas indeed for Sony.
The PlayStation 3 is designed using state of the art technologies such as Cell. The Cell processor was jointly created recently by some of the biggest names in the industry – Sony, Toshiba, and IBM. PS3 also offers features such as a Blu-ray Disc ROM with 54 GB of storage capacity ensuring screen elements will appear in high definition (HD) quality.
Gamers are especially interested in the emerging graphics and computer power which will allow players to experience increasingly realistic movement. The system will also have the capabilities to develop background and terrain in real-time enabling players to virtually experience the same backgrounds and images they originally see on the big screen.
Finally, the PS3 will have backwards compatibility allowing users to play not only the released PS3 games, such as Tomb Raider and The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, but also their games from previous platforms such as the PS2 and the original PlayStation. With over 13,000 games available between the three systems, there will be endless options when it comes to playtime.
